Tutorial - Part 3: Testing a Simple Dark Matter Model

Idea

We have seen now how one can use CheckMATE to test event files for different types of models and how the test results can be used to find allowed and excluded regions in the model's parameter space. In this last part of the tutorial we will apply this knowledge to a scenario which is related to the main topic of this workshop: We are going to analyse a dark matter model and compare the collider limit to limits from direct detection experiments.

In this part of the tutorial we will use our combined knowledge and computing power to...

  • use Madgraph5_aMC@NLO[5] to analyse a 'custom' model created with FeynRules[6]
  • quickly find exclusion lines by using knowledge about the underlying model
  • understand the importance of having different dark matter detection experiments

Let's first discuss the model we are going to analyse
